Mother 'commits suicide after killing son, daughter' in Munshiganj

A woman allegedly committed suicide on Sunday after killing her son and daughter in Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan upazila .

The incident took place at Uttar Islampur village under Keyain Union of the upazila.

Police recovered the bodies of the mother, son and daughter one by one from their living room around 9 am on Sunday.

The three deceased are Salma Begum, 35, wife of Saudi Arabian expatriate Oli Mia of Islampur village, her daughter Saimuna Akter, 9, a fifth grader at Char Sonakanda Government Primary School, and son Tauhi Hossain, 7.

According to the relatives of the deceased, the woman took loan from various NGOs. Two NGO people came to her home to collect money around 9 am on Sunday. They found the door of her house closed and went back. 

Later, local people broke the window and spotted Salma was hanging from the ceiling of the room and the children lying on two beds. 

On information, police recovered the bodies of the three and sent those to morgue for autopsy.

Sirajdikhan Police Station officer-in-charge Mujahidul Islam confirmed the news.
